This year Youth Voice is being held at Liverpool Football Club. Young People will present their idea to a panel who will decide on the winning team. The winning team will be awarded funding to help set up their project.

Aims:

  • To create an environment in which Young people can express their ideas, and gain help and support to build on them.
  • To encourage Young People to make their own decisions, and for them to see the outcome of those decisions.
  • To support Young People in their Growth and development.
  • To give Young People the opportunity to change things in their Community, Youth Group/Centre or School and gain access to money to help them changes happen.
  • To identify funding opportunities and financial assistance.
  • Objectives:

  • To identify current housing services along with any possible gaps in the provisions for young people.
  • To identify future youth housing needs.
  • To summarise the barriers to independent living identified by young people.
  • Emphasising:

  • A commitment to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • Promotion of young people's social development and personal achievement.
  • The diversity of young people is recognised and supported through equal opportunities.
  • Young people are valued.
  • Supporting active youth citizenship.
  • Actively promote the participation of other organisations and youth agencies as partners in the Youth Voice Conference.
  • Young people are central to the conference success. They take on roles as presenters, performers and deliverers of workshops.

The conference focuses on providing youth delegate's with opportunities to explore and debate and progress ideas relevant to them and their local community. A notable feature of the conference is the more developed and active role young people played in the planning of the event.

Youth engagement offers young people a means to share their ideas, be listened to and to begin to contribute actively in the processes of decision-making to effect change. This process would be promoted within a number of areas of housing as young people move from dependence to independence.
