Maritime Housing Association as part of the Regenda Group appreciates how important young people's opinions and views are and want to involve young people in the consultation process.

Young people are often left out of major decisions and not included in the decision making process, these decisions often impact greatly on their future. Helping young people to become involved in consultation helps give a sense of ownership and empowerment which in turn helps to break down barriers and forms better relationships between young people and the older generation.

Youth Voice originates from the UN rights of a Child. The UN Convention is an international human rights instrument which sets out the basic rights of children, and the obligations of governments to fulfil those rights.

The Youth Voice annual fringe festival is I programme of opportunities to promote and youth arts, drama and cultural diversity. It will stage exhibitions and events that encourage local communities and schools to celebrate their diversity and culture.

The development of the Youth Voice fringe festivals is not just important to local Young People, but to all residents, families and their neighbourhoods, it will support local community cohesion and participation.
